Re: How about having a benchmark work unit?

Now I am at a point where I only buy the machines that I really need, with the strength that I really need. Crisis, you know. This fits much better with the original idea of Distributed Computing, where the crunching happens with the spare cycles. Spare, as well in raw computer power, as in the financial aspect.

I've always been a fan of this ideology of grid computing, building systems just to do BOINC seems rather a waste. Although I do have a few more computers than the average user, only one of them runs 24/7 which is my DVR. I will admit that I used to have all my computers running 24/7, although that was before I paid my own utilities tongue

I will still let the laptop run wild when I'm traveling or otherwise am plugged into someone else's power. devilish
