Re: Have very slow WU # FAHV_x3VQ7_IN_LEDGFa_rig_0220728_0005

Well, I just switched over to running only faah in hopes of catching some more of these monsters. No such luck. Last night, I had one finish in 10 hours and the rest of the Vina WUs are all finishing in less than an hour. And BOINC is still estimating completion times as 12 hours. I can only do 3 WUs at a time because of overheating issues running more than that (set sleep temp at 80 deg C.). Have an i7 (930) chip with stock cooler. Had the chip reinstalled with premium thermal compound, and trying to keep the inners clean of dust buildup, but that's the best I can do -- but that is going off-topic.

"...stock cooler."
There is your problem my friend. Great thermal paste and dustless will only get you so far. If you drop $50 or so you should have your system running all cores at 100% and be in the 50~60 C range...if that is what you want ;)

FAHV_x3ZCM_A_IN_Y3b_rig0226059_0041_3 has been running more than 62 hours on my Dell inspiron 1525 laptop. Similar unit with slightly different code (...Y3a...) has also been running more than 70 hours. Both are just over 80% progress, three days overdue. I hate to throw in the towel on these if they might complete. Can't look right now but other crunchers appear to have had errors or aborted. Suggestions welcome...

With that much time invested I would just let them complete. No guarantees on how they will turn out though.
Cheers

Re: Have very slow WU # FAHV_x3VQ7_IN_LEDGFa_rig_0220728_0005

These long vinas are laughable. I have a reliable but slow computer. So after one WU had 3 no replies (and one pending, good for them) it sent me a task. As a resend I have only 3 days to crunch the task when I know full well it is going to take 8+ day to complete. I wonder if any of the previous no shows will complete their tasks before me? How many others will get a resend after me?

Re: Have very slow WU # FAHV_x3VQ7_IN_LEDGFa_rig_0220728_0005

Greetings!!

I had a long-running LEDGFa_rig before and it finally finished after, about, 80 hours on a 2.2 GHz PC.

Now I have another:
task FAHV_x3ZSO_B_IN_LEDGFa_rig_0226872_0054_6

The 'estimated time remaining' is stuck at 7 hrs, 15 minutes, but I do expect it to finish, eventually. - IF it finishes before the deadline.

The question is the deadline.
It took me awhile to recognize the WU as a long-runner, but when I did, I stopped getting more WU from all projects to this one would keep processing.

The wu has 38 hrs., 44 minutes running with a deadline of 10/7/2014 at 4:56 PM - which is 28 hours and 4 minutes from now.

(That gives me about 67 hours of elapsed time.)

I will try to finish it in the remaining 28 hours - and look for others with a similar WU and see how long theirs crunched.
...
So, anyone else with a

Good news. It finished in 52.7 hours before the deadline - and was the 2nd valid result..

we get credit for overdue results?? This seems crazy such large data crunch. Hate to just sit here and wast my power on something they wont use being late..

Is there anything that can be done to speed it up. i have always run on cpu and gpu..

We do get credit for late but I think it isn't full credit. Unsure how that is calculated.

Having your GPU on won't help as there are no GPU enabled projects currently. If your CPU is always on the only other thing you could do to speed it up is to check and see what % the CPU can run at for BOINC. If it is at 100% (and your system isn't too hot) that is all you can do.

Noticed on android that the fahv vina tasks contain 40 jobs. Is that same on the pc platforms? These run from 4 to 6 hours on the tab. The project average shows 3.9 hours, but this also has the faah autodock jobs results included. That's a major change from the previous 140 in a task.
