Hello,
due to restricted user's account at my computer, it isn't possible to install software. I only found a very old portable application on Internet (version 6.10). Does someone know if a newer version is available ? Thx |

Hi,
----------------------------------------I don't know of any other portable BOINC apps. This one is probably the one you found: https://code.google.com/p/boincportable/ I have this "installed" in one such host and I have it set to run at startup. Working since last May. ![]() - AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W - AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W - AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

To port (onto a computer not yours) or not to port, that's the question. It's an absolute to 'not even run boinc' via a backdoor route 'unless' the owner or the it department has given permission. Do 'not' assume you can, therefor you will ignore this prime directive in volunteer computing.
Boss finds out and sees boinc and sees world community grid aka ibm involved and forever the relation could be soured. Boss finds out and you could find yourself with a pink slip, not the first to be handed such as to that seti cruncher who appropriated cpu from college computers. Be safe, get approval, in writing ideally and possibly win more over in your area, at work, or proselytize with owners of private machines. Wcg even gives recognition on your my contribution page, maybe even email or twitter or facebook, but we've yet to hear how it actually looks when a member recruited a new volunteer. |
