Email notification

Recently started running on an android phone and I really like the notification feature that tells me when BOINC is running or suspended.

I also have an old Windows machine sitting in the corner I have dedicated to BOINC. In order to cut down a little on the energy costs, Ive stripped it down including not having a monitor/display. It autoboots into BOINC and runs. Last week however, we lost power and it did not do a clean boot and was sitting there in post waiting for a response. I didn't discover that for a week or so.

Is there a way to have BOINC send an email or a status update in the Windows configuration like the android system does. Maybe scalable or once a day or whenever just to tell me it is working. No email update, then I'd check the autoboot sooner.

Re: Email notification

michaelfolk, I am not aware of any notification that lets you know your system did not do a clean reboot and that BOINC hasn't ran in the last x amount of days. The phone app doesn't do that either. So, in order to see the phone app requires the display which on a PC would have also let you know it wasn't started right.

I would recommend putting some remote host software on it so that you can check its online status regularly or even check your results page here at WCG to see when it last asked or returned work...
