I am no longer a cruncher. I had to quit with 37 million BOINC credits because of insoluble problems with heat.
----------------------------------------But a friend of mine, who is a strict WCG only cruncher and I decided I might still help the effort through my sciencesprings blog. I have collected RSS feeds and Facebook pages, and Twitter feeds wherever they were available for and from the projects. I have created templates for each active project. If and when there is any news which shows up in any of the social media I mentioned, it will be posted to the blog. The blog reaches over 400 readers in North America, Europe, Africa and Asia. If you want to see your projects page, just visit the blog, you will find your blog post in among others. All of the important scientific institutions in the country and around the world use social media to spread their news. I follow all D.O.E. labs, NASA, CERN, ESO, ESA and a number of major US universities. They all use Facebook, Twitter, RSS feeds and most use Google+. If WCG wishes to stay current, its constituents must get used to these tools and use them more than they are now. |
