Re: 10 cores running 24/7 = < 8 cpu days / day ???

The second red line explains it, but why do you think the first one also?

Re: 10 cores running 24/7 = < 8 cpu days / day ???

Mark,

Could you check CPU times vs. Elapsed times as I suggested here and JmBoullier in the post below mine?

Then the problem is almost likely those 80%. Up that to 100% and it should be solved.

- AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W
- AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W
- AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz

No way those 80% can make such problem. Default is 25%, SekeRob recommended something like 50% confused . I have set 75%.

80% or 50% doesn't not make a difference. There must be something in the system taking huge (ca. 20%+) of resources. But, everything may be OK and lot of Mark's (finished) WU's just sit in PVER/PVal prison.

I'm not so sure... If Mark Reiss is ONLY using this (these) machines for BOINC crunching, then there'll be nothing to stop BOINC.

As Mark hasn't provided all the information requested (i.e. clarity that there's nothing other than BOINC activity on this machine, the temperatures (i.e., that throttling back of the CPU isn't playing a part here) and the percentage difference between elapsed and CPU times), then we're only guessing...

But, everything may be OK and lot of Mark's (finished) WU's just sit in PVER/PVal prison.
Here again, I don't suspect that this'll be the issue - as, over time, work in PV (Val or Ver) will again average out, with new WU's being held whilst others are being released.

Oh yeah, I confused it with the "use at most XX%" option...

Re: 10 cores running 24/7 = < 8 cpu days / day ???

8 cores is from 1 machine & 2 cores on another!

it's not 8cores...it's 4cores with HT = about 8virtual cores:
http://ark.intel.com/products/63698/Intel-Cor...-10M-Cache-up-to-3_80-GHz

also, here is what u need to check:
- search for client_state.xml file (usually in BOINC dir)...in it, search for "_frac"...and find something like this:
<time_stats>
<on_frac>0.859155</on_frac>
<connected_frac>0.545472</connected_frac>
<cpu_and_network_available_frac>0.545004</cpu_and_network_available_frac>
<active_frac>0.994885</active_frac>
<gpu_active_frac>0.962742</gpu_active_frac>
<client_start_time>1401684691.999796</client_start_time>
<previous_uptime>13642.163010</previous_uptime>
<last_update>1401698330.015804</last_update>
</time_stats>

post it here!
- go to Tools, then to Preferences...check that u have selected options:
a) enable While computer is in use
b) enable Use GPU while computer is in use
c) Only after computer has been idle for lest than 1 minutes
d) While computer is less than 0 percent
on the bottom:
e) On multiprocessor systems... 100%
f) Use at most 100%
also, do u use your GPU for crunching?

and please, list, which is the second machine?
list their client_state.xml file (not whole, only this part).
