After installing Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, BOINC successfully I modified remote_hosts an all of my Windows PC and can see all of them on this Ubuntu PC. However, I cannot access the Ubuntu system from my other Windows system. I have modified cc_config as well. I have saved them to a USB stick which is visable on the Ubuntu PC.
----------------------------------------I need to restore/create/modify the various files but I have not been able to find the command(s) or proper syntax to do. When it comes to Linux I'm pretty much "cut and past" if I can, at least for now. Thank you, yoro42 ![]() |

Which agent did you install, the .sh one from berkeley or from the ubuntu catalogue, usc? In latter case the user modible files are in /etc/boinc-client iirc, just 4-5 files are in that folder. Of course if you add the allow_remote_gui_rpc option, look in wiki manual for exact tag, you're half there. Modding you do in terminal with sudo nano cc_config.xml for instance. Sudo prefix is what gives temporary admin rights. The password auth is same as the user signin when asked.

yoro42,
When you run the Berkeley installer, it creates a sub-folder named "BOINC" in the folder where you ran the installer. Inside the BOINC folder are the "run_client" command, "run_manager" command, "projects" folder and quite a few other files and folders. The gui_rpc_auth.cfg, remote_hosts.cfg and the cc_config.xml files go into the BOINC folder. And yes, in Ubuntu capitalization matters in folder names. Hope that helps. If you have more questions, let us know. |
