Power Saving: Set my profile so that my computer's power settings can take effect

Hi, I am having a problem with this setting on my computer: BOINC suspends computing after about 25 minutes if I'm away from the computer.

I have my computer's settings in Windows 8.1.1 set to go to sleep after 180 minutes.

I have the Hard disk set to go to sleep after 180 minutes also.

I'm using BOINC Power Saving: Set my profile so that my computer's power settings can take effect for the default profile, and the computer is set to use the default profile.

yet, it still suspends computing after about 25 minutes when I'm away from the computer. Any ideas?

High wolfin2000,

In the device profile hit the custom button and find the mouse/keyboard input option, "Stop work after computer is idle for: nn minutes". The default is about 20 minutes. Set it to anything you like, longer if you like. The agent is compliant to the sleep settings of the host meaning if you set the profile to 185 minutes, the host would go to sleep at your 180 minutes set in the operating system.

Let us know if this is not working and do make sure to set the activity menu in the agent to 'run based on preferences'. By the sound of it, it already is.

Okay thanks, I just thought that it used to be when you set your profile to use your computer's power settings that it would use your computer's power settings. That's how it was a while back.

Let us know if the host is resistant. The agent must communicate at least one time to transfer the profile settings to the node. Hit update in the project view to push the transfer. It's one of a few settings not available in the local agent preferences, don't ask me why.

How do you actually view what settings are for the "let agent use my computer's power settings' ?

yes, the software is set to "run based on preferences" as well as the Network Activity based on preferences".

It updates the settings whenever the software communicates with the server.

put these settings:
turn off display: XX min (provisional to your liking)
put the computer to sleep: NEVER
hard disk turn off: NEVER (unless u use a SDD, the set some XX min)

let us know how it works?

Re: Power Saving: Set my profile so that my computer's power settings can take effect

I want it to go to sleep after x amount of minutes and the setting for "Power Saving: Set my profile so that my computer's power settings can take effect" in BOINC used to obey my power savings based on my Windows power savings prefs, but it does not seem to even when I use a custom profile.

If I put it to "never sleep" then it will never sleep.

U want to shutdown/sleep/hibernate your PC at some time?

1. put my recommendations.
2. put a scheduled shutdown/sleep/hibernate: https://www.google.hr/search?q=shutdown+comma...amp;es_sm=93&ie=UTF-8
