I've been intending to make a home NAS/media server possibly using FreeNAS which is built on FreeBSD. It's been delayed whilst waiting on a suitable machine to appear on eBay. Assuming I get something suitable, I'll probably kick this idea off over the summer when I'm on holiday and at a loose end. So I've a few questions for all the geeks reading the forums.
1) Has anyone here got any experience of trying to get Boinc up and running on either FreeNAS or FreeBSD? IF so I'd like to hear about it. 2) Following on from the above does anyone know if WCG projects would run ok on FreeNAS/FreeBSD? 3) If either of the above doesn't work very well, is there anyone who has tried WCG/Boinc running on a linux VM on a BSD system? Would that be better a better or easier solution? |
