What's most important though - is that this is the first vulnerability that'll effect IE6 (i.e. those still running Windows XP), as that (once brilliant, now ancient) operating system is now out of support for bug fixes such as this.

Received kb2961887 via windows update fixing a flash player element of ie11 on w8.1. According news, this is indeed the vulnerability, which is adobe's. Not the first time too, internet explorer plus flash player a fine pair.

Though it said in news a patch would arrive on may 2, received the notice may one for w7. Not in a rush to boot as not using this browser which is well passed the 'fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me' count. According latest market share data internet explorer 'still' has 4 percent. Astoundingly ms backpedaled and also released a patch for the no longer supported xp version of ie. If these devices are exclusive for crunching, i'd not worry to much. If using to also get to mail and browse the web, go back to top of this post. Once inside a local network proliferation of viral stuff is often much easier.
