Hi! I am crunching with 100 % of CPU and my Boinc is always working. Is this a problem because I am afraid that after some time of crunching like this my computer will gone or some components will be gone and I will need to change them? My computer is old and still working but when I will buy new computer I don't know is it smarter to run Boinc on this way and that my new computer will have problems practically before I buy it. :) Second question, are their any new projects to be launched? Can I disable in settings use GPU always and use GPU when computer is in use because it doesn't have any GPU projects?

First Answer - The key thing with Computers running 24/7 is the operating temprature. If the CPU and other components are within their operating temp range, there should not be a problem. Secont answer - new projects come along from time to time, usually preceeded by a beta run, keep an eye on the beta forum |

Thank you for your answer. My temperature at this moment are 65 C of processor, graphic card is 52 C and mainboard is on 35 C. Processor is Intel Pentium E5700, 3.00 GHz. Is this ok? I am running Boinc on 100 %, 24/7.

It is still within range for your CPU (max 74.5 celsius) but you should probably open the PC and clean the fans and heatsink. It must be dusty in there.

It is still within range for your CPU (max 74.5 celsius) but you should probably open the PC and clean the fans and heatsink. It must be dusty in there. That is a good idea. I have an old Acer laptop that I thought I was going to have to stop using because it would always short out when it reached Boinc 100% usage. However, after I opened it up I saw what looked like a huge built up of dust. After that its performance improvement was amazing. I also installed Ubuntu 32-bit over Windows platform and it is crunching faster than ever now. I have also had a laptop running Boinc at 100% for since 2013 and made sure to keep it in an area with good airflow and have not had any problems with it. I use it to do other things while it is working 100% and none of that has had an impact on performance. Most of the time I almost forget that it is running in the background. ![]() |

If running BOINC is the only thing the laptop is used for it's worth checking that only essential programs are running. Laptop manufacturers are particularly prone to bloatware and some further improvement in performance might be obtained if non essential programs are disabled.

....which is what I did with mine and now the Elapsed/CPU time are nearly identical whereas the elapsed used to be 50 to 75%greater
