I have to agree with genhos. There is WAY too much wasted space with this new design. I have about 1/3 of my 24 inch monitor that is going to waste. It seems this new design was done entirely with a 4:3 aspect ratio and completely ignores those with a 16:10 aspect ratio screen. A good example of why this fixed width is an issue is twilyth's post earlier in this thread. The layout of that post is completely mangled. When a poster has several images in the signature of their post, it squishes their user info on the left to essentially a single column and completely unnecessarily lengthens the post to take up the ENTIRE height of this 24 inch monitor.
----------------------------------------This one is just my personal preference but the fonts are too large on the My Contribution page. The Research/About/News/Community/My Contribution along the top and the list along the left side could be one font size smaller. Also, shrink those rounded boxes around the left side list. More wasted space. Overall, I like most of the new redesign but there are some glaring issues in my opinion that would significantly improve the viewability of the site. ![]() Run time: 4.2y HPF2, 6.9y FAAH, 7.9y HFCC, 20.8y HCC, 26.0y CEP2, 26.0y MCM, 2.1y UGM, 2.0y OET WU: 4.8k HPF2, 12.3k FAAH, 12.4k HFCC, 135k HCC, 34.3k CEP2, 43.8k MCM, 4.2k UGM, 19.7k OET |

New forum software? Nobody noticed the copyright change at bottom of the forums? Nobody having a problem with the black text on the dark blue buttons above the post writing box?
The chevron icon in the address box is not going away on my tablet, even after purposefully erasing all caches and restarting browser. On the desktop, the old icon disappeared, instead now shows a little globe as all sites do who dont have their own favicon. The browser tab does though don the new icon. Does 7.2.47 show the new one in the systray? Sorry but i've moved onto 7.3.11 alpha, yes alpha, not beta. 7.4.nn will be called that, |

I like the new design. It will take some time to getting used to... but it does look more lively (less serious). I am curious about the logo... how was it born? I think that if I stretch my imagination I think can see the "w", the "c" (backwards) and the "G" (capital)... or is it just a cell being worked on by a wrench ?

Please insert some sort of confirmation to the "contribute to this project" button on the main page's projects slide show. I wasn't expecting that by clicking it, all my device profiles are changed.
Cheers :) |

ashrader330: I added a carriage return to my sig between the 2 images - so that might help a bit until the issue is resolved.
----------------------------------------cjslman: I can see the w now - thanks. Maybe that will jump out at most people, IDK. But if the idea is to see the w on the perimeter then move in for the c and then back out again for the g that seems like a lot more work for the eye than I think you want in a logo. It would have been nice if there had been some sort of competition for designing this - unless there was and I missed it. We have a lot of talented people here and it would have been a good idea to give them a shot at this at least. I have to believe we could have come up with something that was a bit less 'subtle' yet still appropriate. ![]() ![]() |

Just noticed that the change to my sig is not working. I even tried inserting text between the images but I'm still getting the original sig.

twilyth, I wasn't saying anything is wrong with your sig but that this hard fixed width is not the most efficient approach. It doesn't take into account the different monitors sizes out there.

Personally I'm not fond of it. Its too blocky and the color schemes & fonts don't go together. Just my opinion.

As mentioned before, the width thing wastes a lot of screen space.
Apart from that, I'll have to explore and get used to it. So far so good though! |

Why did you choose 955px width for the main display?
It all feels a bit narrow. Several of the project in the my contribution table wrap. I think I like the color scheme and the dot matrix map is nice, however I would like to see less of it. Keep up the good work. |
