Re: Getting Google and WCG to partner

3) The music is competing for attention towards the end where the Google Glass user is talking about the app usage. It would be nice if the music volume was lowered a little to make the speech more prominent.

Basically This is what I was going to say, the background music is not only cheesy but also not needed,...sad shocking music when talking about cancer etc, then upbeat drum crap which is trying to sound 'street' with some glasshole who cant stand still.

There is no reason to be wearing GGlass other than 'Look at me I have Glass and you dont!', it just makes the presenter look like a pretentious/pious prick.

Also perhaps another angle to take would be that samsung has already taken some steps to the same end [POWER SLEEP] but going via google would ensure that google gets the bigger share of control on how it works and credit for being to nice, and also [MOST IMPORTANT IMO] standardisation instead of more fragmentation [ala boinc vs native boinc on android]

Sorry if I have sounded like a dick but thats honestly what i thought when i watched it, alot of people do not like glass, no point trying to convert them. And the sad music = problem then light hearted music = solution is an insulting cue to underscore the point your making. But im part of the choir already so im not the one that its aimed at.
Also what is the point of the video actually? to document the project? get the general internet populous to petition google to join by forming a pressure group?

Again, I dont mean to be a dick but I suppose the more honest the feedback the better it is for you.

There is also HTC's "Power to Give".

Trust me I already have. Sad thing is that most Apple devices cannot run boinc.. not true with android.

On the google Glass... The reason he is wearing it is because its an android device that is about to be sold to the public in mass. Plus we are a group of Glass Explorers that met through Project Glass.

I understand what you are saying about the video. I will get it cropped in 2.
The point of the video is literally to get Solveforx.com to pay attention to us. It worked.
The goal is to literally bootstrap every android device and literally run WCG out of work. This will then spark other scientists to submit more work, and then we will be really cooking.

Re: Getting Google and WCG to partner

It's good that you are trying to further WCG and BOINC on Android devices, as they are on the rise and may end up being the bulk of computing devices in a few years. However, in terms of raw computational power Android devices make up a pretty small percentage of the credit on the BOINC system. http://boincstats.com/en/stats/-1/host/breakdown/os/

I'm not saying that you should stop what you're doing, I'm all for it and believe that grid computing can be a real power for good and can help scientists (really, anyone with lots of data to sift through) make some important breakthroughs. However, there are many other areas where BOINC and WCG could have a presence. Recruit everyone on every platform!

Apple iDevices could be another emerging market, but I'm sure that the licensing agreement with the App Store would probably be cost-prohibitive, assuming that BOINC could get the level of processor access needed within iOS.

Trust me, I have am exploring all avenues present and in the future. I.e Wearable technologies.

Thank you for that link that will help me more than you can imagine!

Re: Getting Google and WCG to partner

Hi Moonshot:

I wish you luck in your quest. I had a similar partnership idea. My idea was to have WCG to partner up with Google to install Bionic on Google's servers to donate excess CU cycles to the various WCG projects. In my mind, a muilticore muiticpu server could pump out more results than a dual core CPU equipped Android smartphone can.

That is also my intent, but on a much larger scale. I will keep everyone posted as this matures.
