confused Xeon E3-1230 V2 versus V3, efficiency ?

I would like rent a dedicated server for a month, but I'm not sure the v3 gives a noticable difference for the cost.

I've currently the e3-1230v2 (HT enabled), which takes 4-6 hours by task for Mapping Cancer Markers project. It runs on Ubuntu Server 13.10 x64 and last version of BOINC. I'm obtaining the following benchmarks : 3848 floating point MIPS (Whetstone) per CPU / 14257 integer MIPS (Dhrystone) per CPU.

While searching on the forum, someone said that the instructions AVX/AVX 2 (and FMA) are not supported by the projects. Is that correct, for all projects in World Community Grid ?

Somebody can confirm if the performance for v3 is much better (like +50% on a month), or weak (like +10%). Does it save several hours of computation for more tasks a month ?

I can also choose a SSD for the v3, but I don't think it improves really the performances for BOINC.

Thanks for your advices of cruncher.
Regards.

See this:http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html
The E3-1230v2 mark is 8890
The E3-1230v3 mark is 9551
that is only about an 11% gain in the benchmark. That may not translate directly into how MCM1 would perform, but my educated guess is that would pretty closely measure any gained efficiency.
Cheers

I agree with this, Joe, thank you. I checked also with this website, and WUProp , the performances are weak, so I think I'll use more E3-1230v2 for the price. Its more valuable.

If anybody have this processor v3, for sure, I'm still interested for the real performances.

He** if you pay for the 50 watts it takes to keep it on I'll let you rent out my 4-core w/HT i7-3630QM for the month
