He's been here on the following days recently - 19,20,21,23,27 and 29th. Before that he took off for about a week.
----------------------------------------So for whatever reason, he either doesn't want to participate or just doesn't want to actually log in. I can relate. I spend most of my time here lurking and only log in when I want to post something. I haven't been in touch with him but I hope his reason for boycotting the forum is similar to the reason why I'm not - that there are things here that need to change but about which no one is willing to do anything. Sek has been a CA as long as I can remember and although we may have had our disagreements at one time or another, I would never doubt his dedication. So whatever is keeping him away, I would venture to say that it's important to him. But I would hope he would come back soon to work for whatever changes need to be made around here - assuming that's at least part of his motivation. there are things here that need to change but about which no one is willing to do anything. In June 2013 I posted here about the dearth of CAs (SekeRob & lawrencehardin excepted).knreed responded: Yes - this is something that action is overdue on our part and that we are discussing. The discussion involves the honoring Dave Bell, acknowledging the contribution that inactive CA's have provided in the past and how to grow the community of CA's. Since then there has been a deafening silence. If action was overdue 8 months ago the surge in membership led by the addition of 17,000 Ripple Labs members makes the provision of addtional CAs critical. |

Thanks Johnnie - that is a perfect example. You seem to be much more tuned in to things here than I am so I always appreciate hearing from you.
----------------------------------------I guess the next question is what to do in the face of such an abject lack of interest or concern on the part of WCG. It's pretty clear that they don't pay any attention to what we have to say so maybe it's time to organize a letter writing campaign to IBM. I tried to find an email address for any exec at IBM but came up blank. However a hardcopy letter to their corporate headquarters might work if we get enough people. Are you listening WCG? Are any of you members? I'm happy to write a form letter people can just print off and send if seems like there is enough interest. |
