Re: MCM Progress Reports - November 16, 2014 Update
----------------------------------------The following figures are based on a total number of work units of 350,000,000 from cubes. Last 30 day average results: 513,905 Estimated end date using 30 day average: October 6, 2015 Percent Complete: 52.23741% The average length of a WU is currently running about 2.72 hours. If I look at the latest batch I have received, 9142, that would be about 52.24% complete. We are still at about 10 1/2 more months of additional crunching at the current recent run rate. The last few days there has been a substantial decrease in the length of the WU's. The graph shows the volatility of the WU length. It would be nice if the researchers chimed in from time to time to let us know which of the targeted cancers we are crunching. Well crunched everyone. ![]() Cheers

Thanks for the update Sgt. Joe. There's some really great work being done by the community.
Since you asked, the current data set involves patient samples from lung cancer. We are trying to differentiate between normal and cancer patients with a focus towards cigarette smokers. -Mike |

I am sure a lot of crunchers appreciate seeing the progress from from one type of cancer to another in your work. Cheers

Seems like all CPU work goes to UGM...MCM keep being prolonged! :(
----------------------------------------And so much more people dies from Cancer, than from genome autoimune illness (which UGM targets)... :/ |

Look at this chart. If your comps receive a different mix, it's mostly an effect of everyone else controlling their mixes and what remains after all the volunteer "Exclusive" preferences have been first served. Core design of the server software is just not able to cope with everyone's "Wants". A somewhat fixed daily budget of tasks-per-science is sent into the wild which leads to a regular stream of "If there is [momentarily] no work for one of my selected sciences in the slots, sent me anything of what's available of my other selected sciences".
Suggest taking discussion of this into the Feeder Priority thread or the Device Profile feature wish-list threads. |

And so much more people dies from Cancer, than from genome autoimune illness (which UGM targets)... :/ UGM is not targeted to genome autoinmune illness (wathever that means), but to comparing genomes of different organisms. It's basic research. It can be later applied to many human diseases (including cancer) and other things (food industry, cleaning of chemical pollution, etc.). We can't have applied science without basic science. For example, the most widely used genetics technique, the PCR, was discovered studying bacteria in Yellowstone's hot springs.
