Well, I have a bit of a small conundrum. I had the keyboard on my laptop working very poorly. Bad enough that it was worth typing what keys would work, copying that into something like Word and using spellcheck and/or copy/paste to get the missing letters in. I had tried using the compressed air on the keys to ensure the area underneath the keys was clean but that made no difference. Went ahead and sprung for an OEM new (not refurbished) keyboard. After ordering it, I ended up opening up the laptop and giving the insides a real good cleaning. Keep in mind the that backside of the keyboard is a piece of sheetmetal. After that, the keyboard has been as good as new. There is one piece of the keyboard that's exposed to the inside of the machine - the wire connector and plug. Go figure. So, do I want to go ahead and replace the keyboard and hang on to the old one or hang on to the new one until the old one starts acting up again? I would put the new one in and keep the old as a backup. Logic being that you will likely never have to open it up again if you use the new one. Just a suggestion. |
