To avoid/minimize "Panic Mode", I recommend to upgrade BOINC to 7.0.64/.65

branjo,
At this distance of time I'm not sure if this was ever made explicit (and I'm too lazy to try to search the forum) but I have always had the impression that the points allocation for CEP2 also takes into account the number of sub-jobs that each contributor's machine has processed, so it's not the usual arithmetic mean that's used to allocate points. If you look into the logs for each WU you might see a difference that could explain things. I've always been sceptical that such a system might not take into proper account the different amount of time that is spent in each of the sub-jobs, so I just take it on trust that someone has put enough thought into the system for it to be reasonably fair and not too easy to cheat. |

I'm not sure exactly what constitutes "making sense", but I don't think I'd be too dischuffed with your score on that one. Normally for an invalid that's a problem not caused by your machine but something in the WU you'd get a score that's (something like) your original claim or half the wingman's, whichever is smaller. In this case you got a bit less than that, but your machine only did 7 (or 8) steps to the wingman's 12 (or 13, depending on how you count). It seems to me that you did quite well.
Like I said, the algorithm doesn't seem all that transparent. But there are other things in life! |

Yes, I know about points for invalids. But I always thought that if 2 results do not match, there must be sent 3rd copy to confirm validity of one of them

Again I'm short on detailed knowledge but would suggest that both machines have done enough of the important earlier steps that the cost/benefit of sending out another copy isn't there.

Something's screwy with the credits for these longer tasks, I was getting over 300 for 6hr + ones before.
1/10/14 21:38:29 8.90 / 9.41 64.9 / 64.9 1/10/14 21:07:37 14.81 / 15.20 64.9 / 64.9 64.9 seems to be the stand these days. |

![]() I am claiming 64.9 as well, after 17.35 hours. At least nobody is gaining an unfair advantage. ![]() I have reported this. Lawrence |
