confused FAHV - All Failing, Ubuntu

All my FAH-Vina tasks are failing with following error:

<core_client_version>7.2.28</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<message>
app_version download error: couldn't get input files:
<file_xfer_error>
<file_name>fahv_image06_7.06.tga</file_name>
<error_code>-200</error_code>
</file_xfer_error>

</message>
]]>

Running under Ubuntu 12.04.

FAAH & MCM ran fine.

I've checked:
fahv_image06_7.06.tga exist in project folder
skip image file verfication is OFF and file signature is correct

What could be the problem and how can I fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Re: FAHV - All Failing, Ubuntu

Plz look for prior posts that have the <error_code>-200</error_code> message. We see them being reported now and then.

Skip image verification is recommended to be on off i.e. do image check.

Re: FAHV - All Failing, Ubuntu

Here's one search result. The official description is that the file has a wrong size. https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/...ead,32212_offset,0#353968

The cloud, where permanent files come from seems to suffer from corruption at which time the techs flush the cash cache. The [temp] workaround was to set the download IP directly to the download.worldcommunitygrid.org. I reposted that link in the last couple of days somewhere... key search word 'cloud' and author SekeRob.

edit: homophones again ;D

Re: FAHV - All Failing, Ubuntu

Thanks SekeRob.

Yes, WCG search function is... functional. biggrin

Following breadcrumbs left by you & knread... led to Kevin's post re fixed-IP .

198.20.8.241 download.worldcommunitygrid.org

My local DNS lookup produced:
Name: download.worldcommunitygrid.org
Address: 170.224.160.205
Name: download.worldcommunitygrid.org
Address: 170.224.194.69

Downloaded from all 3 hosts.
.tga from 170.224.194.69
*_001.tga from 170.224.160.205
*_002.tga from 198.20.8.241

HANDmacbook:fahv terence$ md5 *.tga
MD5 (fahv_image06_7.06.tga) = eef1135f5dfc1c9d1a0ede277de69dab
MD5 (fahv_image06_7.06_001.tga) = eef1135f5dfc1c9d1a0ede277de69dab
MD5 (fahv_image06_7.06_002.tga) = eef1135f5dfc1c9d1a0ede277de69dab

Similar MD5... primary download host tga-file is also corrupted? tongue

I'll attempt to copy the tga-file from one of my Windows host once I get home.

Thanks again!

Re: FAHV - All Failing, Ubuntu

The cloud's cache has been flushed again. We are looking at changing these servers and using a content delivery network instead which should reduce the incidence of these types of problems.

Re: FAHV - All Failing, Ubuntu

Thanks Kevin.

Update:
I'm using Microsoft's File Checksum Integrity Verifier (fciv) to do MD5.

Windows7's fahv_image06_7.06.tga checksum is identical to those in Ubuntu.

eef1135f5dfc1c9d1a0ede277de69dab fahv_image06_7.06.tga

So I thought "it's not .tga-file corruption" and confirmed this by running a single FAHV in my Window host. It's crunching away fine.

Thinking binaries could be corrupted... I went ahead and manually downloaded Linux binaries from 170.224.194.69, 170.224.160.205, 198.20.8.241.

All MD5 are identical to those downloaded by BOINC Ubuntu hosts.

Next, I will attempt to detach & re-attach one of my Ubuntu host.
If still failing, c'est la vie... I will only crunch MCM on them for the time being.

Any other ideas?
