HPTX Computer chassis?

Ok you guys, someone out there must be using an SR2 or similar MB. So what cases are available to house such a beast?

Many thanks

Re: HPTX Computer chassis?

I found it almost impossible to find a case for my SR-2 so I went with a test stand. This seemed to be the best option and has worked out really well for me.

It's not really an option though if you have curious pets unless you can sequester the machine someplace.

Even the egg seems to have limited options

Yep, thanks twilyth, seen that it's a good option. However, I want an enclosed system and have opted for the Corsair Obsidian 900D, little bit more than I wanted to pay, but what a case! loads of room for water cooling, fans and HDD's - super. Looking forward to getting this beast built!

    Case - 900d (as above)
    MB - EGVA SR-2
    CPU - 2 x hex core xeon's (24 threads!)
    PSU Corsair AT1200i
    RAM - Corsair Vengeance red - loads! (SR2 max = 48Gb)
HDD - Cricuial SSD (128Gb, don't need storage in this system)
GPU - Not decided, but may put my 2 x HD7970's in it!

This is really going to be a beast!

Looking forward to testing etc...

Re: HPTX Computer chassis?

Nice! That thing is like the Death Star. It should come with a couple TIE fighters for protection. Just to be safe, I would double check the HPTX compatibility and specs on the Corsair web site. Newegg probably has it right but I've had issue with stand-offs not always being in all of the right places.

For example I got this case for my octo-core E5-2687w server and it didn't have holes for stand-offs in some of the places I was expecting for and E-ATX case.

It's still a beautiful case but I have to be careful pulling boards and cables.

Re: HPTX Computer chassis?

Yep, it's a bit like that!

Yep, checked on the Corsair web site it says it's compatible with the HPTX format.
MB Support ATX, E-ATX, HPTX, Micro ATX, Mini ITX

So let's hope it really is!

Re: HPTX Computer chassis?

Are you going to do a build log? I don't recall seeing anyone do one here.

Re: HPTX Computer chassis?

I could if I knew what to put in it, I've built hundreds of systems from scratch and never documented it. If you or someone else can give me of the format to the document I can see what I can do...

Re: HPTX Computer chassis?

I'd put it in the chat room and just call it something catchy - 'my death star build log.' OK, that's a bit over top, but you get the idea.

You can always go to Xtreme systems or TechPowerUp and look at the build logs there to get an idea.

Basically it's just a lot of computer pr0n - pix of the hardware with some commentary. Nice pix that we can drool over.

Re: HPTX Computer chassis?

Sounds like a plan, I'll do that and will use your name for the new system! I will have to find somewhere to host pics though, where is free and the best place?

Re: HPTX Computer chassis?

IDK any more. There are new places all of the time so I googled free photo hosting . Image shack and photobucket have been around for a while but I'm not sure I like their interfaces.

BTW, I hope you're joking about the name of the system. talk to the hand wink

Let me know if you do some research and why you chose the place you do since I'm interested in finding a new photo sharing place myself.

I'll start a thread to get suggestions.
