Known Issue:
http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,35994 And to once again underscore, if you have too many results to upload [Greater than 2x BOINC processor threads], downloading is suspended by the client! There's a special event log message for that. |

What happens to BOINC jobs when their deadline falls during this time? Will we still get credit for them?

Guess depends on what you are uploading... Most of mine are backing off but The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2.6.40 task uploaded fine, highlighted in bold :)

What happens to BOINC jobs when their deadline falls during this time? Will we still get credit for them? Principally I'd not consider this a worry [they'll validate in 99.9% of the cases], but in past the techs have run a script to extend the deadlines for No Reply tasks since the outage. This way it's prevented that extra copies are send out because others were hindered in reporting. |

There's a special event log message for that. It looks like this:World Community Grid 11 Dec 16:37:46 Not requesting tasks: too many uploads in progress ![]() Without the smiley of course ![]() That's the one. :D The second key reason for buffering up if in time to catch the situation in progress [before the 2x cores is reached] is, that when computing through all the buffered work, the uploads must first clear to a point of < 2x cores before new work is allowed to come... extends the idle core time [hate to think to have dozens of large results sitting there]. The picture at resume is not nice [downright ugly for the techs]. Yesterday had one brand new install sit there being kicked back due overload this, overload that and whatnot for 1.5 hours after WCG started feeding again [ever incrementing deferral counters to go with.. some members feeling coerced by this to keep hitting update, which wont work because you get at least 3 more minutes to wait in response.] [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 11, 2013 4:24:00 PM] |

From the mda471 post few up, I'm taking it that Harvard have overcome the Ms Piggy constipation, so if you have CEP2 upload sitting [e.g. if device was set off-line to wait it out], you might want to clear them first... might get you below the 2xBOINC cores again to make your host eligible for download again.

so this happens now and then? How long does it take before the clients can upload the results again?
