I just got some new work after reporting a bunch of MCM work and I got a CEP2 work unit. This I find odd as my machine is Linux 64bit. PURE 64bit. There are no 32bit libs or executables installed. None at all.
----------------------------------------Has CEP2 gone 64bit or did I receive this work unit in error? ![]() Currently being moderated under false pretences |

Not sure if a device reports as 'pure' 64 bit, but there really is only a 32 bit CEP app. So happens my project folder lists a 32 and 64 bit app of MCM and only a 32 bit app for CEP2. IIRC if such 32 bit tasks start on your system, they'll end up in error [if pure]... something missing ;d (Don't know how to prevent them coming if send as alternate work)
If Ubuntu repo installed, look in /var/lib/boinc-client/projects/www.worldcommunitygrid.org to confirm. One such is wcgrid_cep2_6.40_i686-pc-linux-gnu i686 indicating 32 bit. |

It's Slackware and I use the installer from Berkley. Probably should have said that up front.
----------------------------------------Ubuntu 64bit comes with the multi-arch compatibility packages. Slackware 64bit is compatible with them, but doesn't come with them unless you install the yourself. Until now, even when selected (using the all projects setting) I never got CEP2 work on this machine. I haven't installed any 32bit libs or binaries unless they were included with the AMD graphics driver I installed a couple of days ago, which would be odd in itself. ![]() Currently being moderated under false pretences |

Poking around in the Projects folder I have:
----------------------------------------wcgrid_beta17_7.26_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu* wcgrid_faah_7.15_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu* wcgrid_fahv_vina_7.06_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu* wcgrid_mcm1_7.26_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu* and wcgrid_cep2_6.40_i686-pc-linux-gnu* wcgrid_cep2_graphics_6.40_i686-pc-linux-gnu* wcgrid_cep2_qchem_6.40_i686-pc-linux-gnu* wcgrid_fahv_vina_7.06_i686-pc-linux-gnu* wcgrid_mcm1_7.26_i686-pc-linux-gnu* It strikes me as quite odd the latter are there. ![]() Currently being moderated under false pretences |

That AMD software may have set something off and got you more than you wanted. On my last few Ubuntu 64 installs never had BOINC moaning about missing libs... that multi-arch kit.
Did you look in the project folder to confirm the 32 bit-ishness of the CEP2 app [or look in the stdoutdae.txt file for download log entries.] The initial path would be printed in the startup log. On my system the project folders are actually 'access denied' and have to launch a Nautilus with sudo to be allowed in and view content. |

I posted what you said to look for from my Projects folder above.

Try (Debian 7.2 64-bit, BOINC data in default directory):
----------------------------------------file /var/lib/boinc-client/projects/www.worldcommunitygrid.org/wcgrid_* | less Can't tell you about CEP2 as I've only ever crunched faah and FAHV on the machine, so no CEP2 programs have been downloaded to it. All WCG program binaries here are "ELF 64-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), statically linked, for GNU/Linux 2.6.9, stripped" [Edit 2 times, last edit by Rickjb at Dec 6, 2013 7:28:32 AM] |

Dark Angel, if your system shows ia32-libs somewhere (for whatever reason) it used to be what's needed to run 32-bit CPU apps successfully.

Dark Angel, if your system shows ia32-libs somewhere (for whatever reason) it used to be what's needed to run 32-bit CPU apps successfully. That's the funny thing, I haven't installed that unless the AMD drivers dragged it in silently. I just searched through my installed packages and none of them are listed as i386, i586 or i686. Everything is either "noarch", such as fonts, or x86_64. Very odd indeed. ![]() Currently being moderated under false pretences |
