There have been many postings in the various science threads that one should upgrade to 7.x.x, or that one wouldn't have this or that problem if one installed 7.x.x, or that notifications are supported in 7.x.x, etc. There is also a thread in this same forum (BOINC 7.2.28 is ready for public use) discussing upgrading BOINC version.
----------------------------------------However, on the WCG Download page, 6.10.58 is still the version posted and has been for at least 3 years. So what is the official position on the BOINC version for WCG? Why has WCG been stuck on 6.10.58 for years? Cheers ![]() ![]() |

Hello NixChix,
WCG has never security-certified any BOINC 7 version, so financial institutions must stick with BOINC 6.10.58. I do not know why WCG has held off on BOINC 7. Perhaps WCG is waiting for a stable BOINC 7.2 version? Anyway, most people have moved to BOINC 7.0.64 and SekeRob and other BOINC software testers are running on BOINC 7.2.xx. Nobody complains about BOINC 7.0.64. Though there are occasional complaints about the major version upgrade from 6 to 7 made by people who do not run out their queue, especially for CEP2 units. Strange things sometimes happen during a major upgrade. Lawrence |

Thanks Lawrence. I will give BOINC 7.0.64 a try as soon as I can.
