When I see this type of a message on my Linux machines, it generally means the machine has lost its connection with the internet. Have you tried resetting or powering off the router? This is what fixes it for me. I have not experienced this with Windows hardly at all, its ethernet drivers appear to be much more reliable than the Linux drivers. Using the same same connections for both kinds of machines, the Linux will hang, but the Windows will not. Really wish I knew why. Thanks Joe, but no, already tried that full shutdown of the machines and router then restart. Same issue. The Internet connection works well on the macines, just the upload having issues...Cheers Regards

Sorry to read you are still having problems.
----------------------------------------I found one of my machines stuck at uploading days worth of data and doing no crunching because it had run out of new data. Tried rebooting/resetting windows but still no joy. Then noticed that date had reset to 2000. As soon as I updated the date, tasks started to upload and download again ![]() I'll leave machine alone and see if problem reappears. If so, checking CMOS battery may well be my first test because that machine is quite old. ![]() ![]() Crunching in memory of my Mum PEGGY, cousin ROPPA and Aunt AUDREY. |

Our love of [fuller] supporting event logs to any problem report is unparalled. Regrettable the date is correct (and would likely have given a certificate warning if not):
Tue 26 Nov 2013 18:53:57 The odd thing is, the problòem appears on 3 of his 4 machines. Recently I've had a blackholing to WCG. Flipped from the ISP provided DNS to OpenDNS **. [doing that in the router, no settings on comps needed], applied and WCG was back. ** my third DNS server set is Google's 8.8.8.8 + 8.8.4.4 which I cycle on occasion when the intertube performance is poor. |

Thanks for all the advice guys. I've resolved the issue...
----------------------------------------It appears one of my gigabit switches was the cause of the problems. I noticed on the upload page of Boinc, the transfer rate was only 5Kbps, strange me thinks! Tested the internet link on main computer and got the usual 120Mb down and 10Mb up. so investigated the link between the router and the PC's with the issue. Ran speedtest.net on the Ubuntu machine and found I had a very slow connection, removed the switch and bingo! 120Mb/10Mb from Ubuntu as well! Problem solved!

Note to self: Next time a member comes with unresolvable http errors, lets have the member set some of the network debug flags in the cc_config.xml such as prescribed by knreed in this post: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewpostinthread?post=323120

Has a line item in the Start Here FAQ index, whilst don't feel in any way held back adding an FAQ to the official WCG Wikia http://wcg.wikia.com/wiki/Category:FAQ . All members can ;P
