RunTime and Results: RunTime Points Results This looks like a 51% attack, no? XD ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey there, just wanted to say hello to this community. I only found out for this project through ripple labs, and their giveaway. I've been reading through the forums and i am honestly amazed at both the amount of work that has been donated by everyone in every team and the loyalty and fidelity of some of the older members here to it. Thank you everyone. This is a project i am proud to support and although i can see the irony in these words, coming out of a person who was introduced to this through a "monetary" gateway, i will remain in this for long after the giveaway drains. Thanks again for this. I'll be around. Fo- |

Of the 16,120 members who had joined Ripple Labs team prior to 16/1/14 4,430 were DOA and have never submitted a result.

Hey guys!
----------------------------------------I've been watching this post for the last month or so, and first off wanted to thank all the community members of World Community Grid for supporting our team! I'll be actively communicating through these forums to assist any people having issues on our giveaway website or with the Ripple client. I also dropped by to inform you guys that we had a bug on our backend that disallowed people with a lot of previous points (older WCG accounts) from receiving XRP. We have now fixed the issue and will be paying out users affected by the bug tomorrow. There is more information on our forum, I'll just copy the text below. Thanks again for joining the team and let me know if anyone needs any assistance! Hey guys, So we reported a bug a bit ago affecting users with accounts that had points they crunched on other teams. These users were not generating claims or getting XRP. We've fixed the bug for new users, but we still need to pay out the old users and get them into the claimer. We are fixing ALL affected users tomorrow. These users will be claiming ALL of their generated points tomorrow. It's a couple billion extra points. Obviously this will affect distribution and the rate that everyone else is getting for their points. To remedy that situation we are giving out a significantly larger amount of XRP tomorrow. (A couple million more). Tonight's distribution will be normal, tomorrow's will be increased, and Saturday's amount will be back to normal (albeit more competitive). What this means is that a lot more users will be contributing points daily, meaning some users might notice a decrease in the XRP they receive daily, starting Saturday. If you're renting servers and marginally making profit, scale your servers down Saturday to readjust your expectations with minimal loss. Let me reiterate, today's distribution will be at the same rate. Tomorrow's rate will still be the same rate. Saturday's rate will most likely lower. 1.25 Million XRP will continue to be given out, but there will be more people competing for it. Thank you guys for being so patient while we sorted out the issue! Cheers, -Jon [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 17, 2014 6:59:58 PM] |

Hi Jon
Thanks for popping in to say hello. I'm glad to see the bug has been found and squashed. I'm not affected personally, but I can see a few gripes arising depending on how you fix things. If, as I suspect you are going to do, you take the WCG:Ripples ratio from the run tonight and the make that a fixed ratio for tomorrow and increase the ripples in the payout pot then some of those people affected will be unhappy. Why? Well the WCG:ripples ratio has dropped substantially. In December it was at the lowest point around 142WCG points for a ripple compared to around 400 to a ripple this week. Clearly if the people affected had been paid their points at the correct time they would have received substantially more ripples than they will if paid out at tomorrows rate. Could I suggest a compromise: two payment runs, the first for the normal daily output at the normal floating ratio with the normal number of ripples to be distributed 1.25M. Then a second run for all the back claims using an average of the WCG:ripples ratio since early Dec say about 300 points per ripple. |

On a second point about your statement, at least one person in your Ripple forums has misunderstood your comment about the Saturday amount being more competitive. They have taken that to mean the number of ripples being distributed will be increased, but I took it from your subsequent comments that it meant there would be more competition for the same number of ripples.
It may be worthwhile spelling out again in the announcement thread in your forums that the payout after the fix will only be 1.25M ripples. |

As of Dec 31 2013 Ripple Labs were averaging 265 new members per day. During January this has steadily declined and over the last 7 days an average of 144 new members per day have been added.
----------------------------------------Since Dec 31 a total of 3,860 members have been added. All-Time Members 16,610 4,459 members were DOA - 2,520 joined before Jan 1 and 1,939 after. (DOA = Dead on Arrival) Ripple Labs contribution as a % of the WCG total: RunTime Points Results |
