Okay, here is what happened.
I had removed the Authenticated Users group from my HDD, which is my D: drive as I have an SSD with my o/s on it as C:.
Boinc is installed on D:\programs\Boinc Data and in D:\Boinc\programs.

Once I added the Authenticated Users group back to my D: drive, it gave me the option and list of projects that I could join, and I added WCG successfully and it is now running again.

I removed the Authenticated Users group from the directories that I don't want other users on my PC to have access to.

The boinc user groups were already there before I did that but it did not work.

Anyhow, all is well now. Thanks for your help folks.
