Has there been any plans on making Mapping Cancer Project utilize Android devices?

Thank you

Re: Mapping Cancer Markers for Android?

would be nice but i figure its at least a few weeks out before they prove the work units are stable then we will find out if they possibly would port this over to GPU and Androids

Re: Mapping Cancer Markers for Android?

These were the initial Beta reqs:

400MB Ram (Internal memory required for Android)
512MB of disk space (SSDs can at this time not be used... google is blocking with security motivation)
10MB result files (Was upped to 15MB for production)

Run times: At this time there's no predicting how long the tasks run... even a single computing pass on a PC can take 15-20+ hours, seen with own eyes). FAHV and SN2S are by comparison, much much smaller (See System Requirements Help page)

With this outline, there would be major work involved to port and make it fit.

We did do some work to try and compile it for Android. However we have not finalized this build and focused on the computer version first. There may be a version at a later date, but there is no release date set or plan to release it.

Thanks,

Re: Mapping Cancer Markers for Android?

If you need some help in testing it on an android device please let me know. I bought this device only for supporting distributed computing.
Current my android box runs 24/7 fahv with runtime per wu between 7 and 18 hrs.

Re: Mapping Cancer Markers for Android?

Hello Eric_Kaiser,
FAHV on Android is turning out very useful results, so your tablet is not going to waste. Right now, MCM length is hard to estimate. Hopefully time will solve this, but right now we might accidentally send a work unit that would need more than a day to compute. So the main problem is not with the project program but with the back room operation selecting work units for Android. At least, that is my personal opinion.
