Over the last couple of days boinc won't load, I get the error message 0xc000007b.
Bound to say that is not the only update that will not update, Nat speak and Nvidia wouldn't download completely. When it wouldn't load, I deleted and then reloaded, after getting suckered by the Leiden download, I got the right one.. ![]() |

Hi snoekie,
What is the system and OS that is acting so playfully? What sort of BOINC are you downloading from where? Lay it out for us and I am sure that somebody will throw in some comments. Lawrence |

Windows 7, Intel 7 processor, 16 GB RAM.
But then having adobe flash problems, as well, but depends on the mood of the computer. Sounds funny. Boinc from WCG, 6. something, as opposed to the Leiden one, 7. something. Skype effed up beyond use (I really suspect this whole flash problem is down to microsoft, like many other problems. E.G., leave the computer alone for a while and all icons disappear and cannot be got back without a reboot. The flash problem resolved, albeit it temporarily, with a forced close and request to start windows normally (happened tooooooooooooooo many times to be coincidence). I suppose they cure the problem by requiring me to buy their newer version which cures some of the problems (allowing extraction of fat licence fees from partners to cure the faults they should have done for nothing. They have a word for traders like that. end of rant. |

It may be a shot in the dark, but it seems you may have picked some kind of virus. Try doing a couple of scans and see if it comes up clean.

Ugh. After spending hours posting about SF books I have spotted to other SF fans, then trawling through Facebook to admire the photos of deer and fish that my relatives bagged this Saturday morning, I knew that I should quit while I was ahead. But it was too early not to look back at WCG.
----------------------------------------Sounds like you need BOINC completely uninstalled. I hope you set Windows 7 to show hidden directories and files, so you can verify that BOINC is totally gone. Then try downloading Windows 64-bit BOINC ver. 7.0.64 (9.36 MB) from https://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php/ We have not spent the time to security-verify it yet, but you are not a financial institution, so who cares. scanned daily. AVG Any one antivirus is only 90+% effective. I would say to try another one or two in addition to AVG. Here is one test site with rankings. http://www.av-test.org/en/tests/home-user/windows-7/julaug-2013/ Cheers

My personal opinion is that Dr.Web Cureit is the best stand alone virus scanner. However it does not provide realtime protection and therefore does not replace your AVG. But it does do a very thorough scan.
----------------------------------------Also, it might just be easier to reformat the disk and start again with fresh Windows 7. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by sean0118 at Nov 3, 2013 4:12:11 AM] |

I would start with scandisc (complete) and defrag. If it will not help, I would perform some thorough HW check. If all HW is good and such problems persist, I would go in way sean0118 recommended.
