Me being dense!

Guys, I've installed Boinc on Ubuntu 12.0.4 and can't work out how to start the manamger GUI to configure it (boinc). Can someone assist please?

I'm new to Ubuntu and need a little guidance plase?

Hi Mamajuanauk, glad to hear you're trying Ubuntu. Is there a reason why you are using an older release (12.04)?

Did you install BOINC from the Ubuntu repository, or did you download it from the WCG webpage? If you downloaded it from the repository, you should be able to find the BOINC Manager on menu -- probably the System menu, possibly Applications (sorry I don't remember exactly from 12.04). If you downloaded from the WCG web page, after you follow the instructions for running the installation script, a message should appear on the screen telling you how to start the BOINC Manager.

It's easier to use BOINC on Ubuntu if you install from the repository, but the other way works fine, too.

Hi Kateiacy, no reason for v12... Just didn't know there was a new release...

Going to download v13 and upgrade. Boinc installed from repository. Will try again soon, I'll let you know how I get on...

Got it! Many thanks, all working now. Upgrade next later today. Downloaded 13.1...
