Re: constantly invalid results.

@Dirk
I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 and these are the settings I'm using for the Berkley version of BOINC. I haven't tried NativeBOINC.
It only has 1 GB of memory and depending on the settings this will cause tasks to continuously suspend and resume depending on the usage.
These are the relevant settings that work for me:

min battery usage 20% (or whatever works for you)
max 50 C CPU temp
1 core (MUST be 1)
100% of CPU time (or whatever works for you)
CPU pause at 90% (MUST be this)
Max RAM usage 80% (MUST be this)
When crunching on the 1 core it will draw 5 watts when plugged into the wall. 4 watts at idle. I have only completed 1 task but it looks like it will produce about 150 BOINC points per day running 24/7.
If anybody is interested there is an LTE version that I believe has 1.5 GB of memory but may use significantly more energy when using an LTE connection.

Re: constantly invalid results.

I'm trying the memory settings you suggest.

Looks like there are 2 types of failure :-

Re: constantly invalid results.

@Dirk,

Sorry it didn't work. I only have 1 valid and 3 pending verification so I'm not sure. They range from 12 to 16 hours. I only have 1 in progress so maybe they are fixing a problem. The CPU time and elapsed time are roughly the same.

Re: constantly invalid results.

The Nexus 5 has 2GB of RAM and 4 cores as far as I can tell. It should be able to run 2 tasks at least. As I recall many people are having problems running more than 1 task on Android devices. I think the techs are aware of this issue.

It might be that when a task suspends it restarts showing less progress complete. I saw this happen once before I found settings that worked. The techs are aware of this too I think.

Re: constantly invalid results.

Hi enels

I tried your settings above after abortng all of the work units part crunched

With just the 1 core running I am still getting invalids and errors

still around the 25% success rate mark

For the moment it's better to have all 4 cores going so I get days worth a day rather than just 6 hours of success.

Looking forward to the day when I get get 96 hours of valids per day from moby.

Re: constantly invalid results.

Hi Dave,

The success rate on my Samsung galaxy tab 3 is above 50%. I'm not sure because the tasks are removed from my result status quickly. I have seen at least 1 error and invalid. Looking at the device installations it shows 3.5 days of runtime from 6 results for 2811 points.

Re: constantly invalid results.

With my Samsung Galaxy S3 and HTX One X+ I initially set it for 4 Cores and quickly discovered that there were a handful of invalid tasks in every update.

I reduce it to 3 Cores and the number of invalid tasks did drop but I didn't get it to zero.

When I finally configured it for 2 Cores, I managed to get zero invalid results for most of my updates. Occasionally, I do get an invalid result but other than that, its been pretty smooth.

I do hope that your device isn't overheating since that too may cause invalid results.

Re: constantly invalid results.

Good point Panther-X,

I've upped the maximum CPU temp from 50 C to 55. Maybe 60?

Edit: I meant Battery temperature.

Re: constantly invalid results.

Can your device handle those high temperatures? If so, than fine.

I use CPU-Z (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cpuid.cpu_z) and during testing found out that overheating occurs at 48C on my HTC One X+ and it starts to malfunction (at least the camera) when the temperature is roughly in the high 50C
