Good to know... running a Samsung S3 with a lot of errors... cut it down to 50% as per suggested... will let you know. :)

I have a 4 processor tablet that I've tried with 3, 2, then 1 core processing. I've also tried running it in performance mode, mixed mode and economy mode. All combinations of the above return way too many errors. I've finally given up using Android. Sorry, but it just isn't ready for prime time.
----------------------------------------I only hope there is no bad science being done. EDIT: Oh yea, I also tried most of the above combinations using both the factory ROM plus a ROM from "sbdags" at xdadevelopers based on Android 4.2.1 JB. Same results. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by gomeyer at Oct 24, 2013 1:55:46 AM] |

Thanks for going the extra mile, gomeyer.
When we started WCG in 2004, there were still a few old PCs that could not run our first project HPF. The new mobile Android devices seem much more ill-adapted to high performance computing, but doubtlessly they will improve rapidly. Lawrence |

Now I put Cpu on 50 % and RAM on 100 % with running 1 core, I will see if this will help.

I'm having the same problem with my xperia ZL. I'll try the configs listed here to see if work.

How hot do these things get/feel when running all cores?

More then 40°C but the client stop to wait the cool down. Maybe this pauses are causing this trouble.

We have 4 android devices which run the "Fight Aids ..." project and I am seeing a bunch of the WUs being marked invalid (17 after just reviewing the results). I don't see any indication in the log regarding why they should be so marked this way. The latest I reviewed has 16 tasks and ends with:
[02:45:20] Starting task 15,CPU time is 24818.830000. [02:45:20] ./ZINC04037134.pdbqt size = 21 7 ../../projects/www.worldcommunitygrid.org/fahv.x3AVCaINy3A.pdbqt size = 2842 0 [03:05:43] Finished task #15 cpu time used 1175.580000 03:05:43 (3867): called boinc_finish </stderr_txt> ]]> Can anyone give me any idea of why a WU may be marked invaalid? |

dkt,
Are your Android device multi core? If so and you are running on all cores can you try running on a single core for a while and see if you continue to see invalids. We are investigating issues with invalids on Android and will let everyone know once we know more. Thanks, armstrdj |

I'm running on a new Samsung Galaxy TAb 3 and have pages of consistently failed workunits (fail before completion - sometimes immediately and sometimes after longer) . I tried 2 cores and got same result. I'm now running 1 and have just got the first successfully completed workunit, which is Pending validation.
----------------------------------------I have been running the same project on my Samsung Ace3 phone (with 2 cores working) for months now and have no problems! Is there a problem specific to Tablets? |
