Re: SNURK and friends - Hop on to say hi

Primarily due to Doneske stockpiling years of run time and letting it all rush out the moment the competition started. I'm still in awe at the floodgates.

Damn it, why didn’t i think of that, smart move.

I know, right? As soon as I saw that I thought "oh yeah, that technique was used last year to great effect...ah...ahhhh I should have done it as well."

A smart move indeed, and with a great result. biggrin
There will be more chances to deploy this technique in the next parts of the THOR challenge. To recap:

Week 2: Monday, September 23 to Sunday, September 29
Week 3: Monday, October 07 to Sunday, October 13
Week 4: Monday, October 07 to Sunday, October 13
Week 5: Monday, November 04 to Sunday, November 10

Re: SNURK and friends - Hop on to say hi

Thanks for the dates info. I thought the weeks would run consecutive, I didn't know there would be gaps. Looks like there are more chances to try Doneske's technique.

Re: SNURK and friends - Hop on to say hi

I had planned to do that before the start of Thor but by the time it came around-I forgot. Getting old is a bitch.
BTW I'm so old even in SNURK's post about the weeks that THOR is running, weeks 3 & 4 look the same to me. cool

Re: SNURK and friends - Hop on to say hi

I'll be away from my machines for the start of the 2nd week so I can't stockpile and then release the floodgates, but I did rent 2 additional 32 thread servers for a month (maybe two months) which will help the team's efforts.

That techique sure sounds cool.. But maybe we should not be advertising it.. The MONSTER Teams may start doing it also!!!

Re: SNURK and friends - Hop on to say hi

rejoined for the challenge..

Been building a bunker the last 10 days.... Just waiting for midnight

This is a great Idea... How to suppress sending the results.. Do I have to disconnect from the internet or is there a command?

Do I do that by selecting YES for Confirm before connecting to Internet?
under the Network Usage for device profiles.
