After continued attempts to receive new work units over the past 2 weeks, I finally got 2 WU's for 2 of my devices, the other 2 are still "No Work Available".
---------------------------------------- I've sent an email to admin...no reply. There are no postings in the forums from anyone about the status of Android work units. Does anyone know if there's a problem with distribution, are the servers down or overloaded, is there just not enough work for the community, or is this just a poorly planned addition? Any info is greatly appreciated.

I get WU's easily, maybe restarting your smartphone(s) and BOINC itself will solve the problem. Sometimes "Updating" your project will get you WU's faster. Or you maybe set WCG to "No new tasks", check that out and report back if it worked or not :D

I've rebooted the phones, changed every setting possible (currently have them set to use 100% of RAM, CPU & memory and process above 20% battery). All 4 are Android 2.3.6. I've tried the "Update" feature about 50 times per phone. WIFI signal 5 bars (laptop feeds off the same wifi without any problem.

Rest assured if there were a shortage of work units, there would be no shortage of threads complaining about it.

Hi acpartsman,
At this point you might as well describe one of the devices giving you problems and post messages from it. Also, set it to only run 1 thread. Some Android devices have turned out to be picky that way. Lawrence |

Currently the 2 that have no work are Huawie Ascend Y M866. 1 has a 4gb memory chip, the other has 8gb. Both are set to use 100% CPU, max storage is 90%, Min spare is .1, ram limit is 100%. I've tried the daily trsansfer limit at the default 0 and tried setting it to 10gb. I've tried the GUI in every setting except 0. Nothing I've tried changes the result...when I select update it still comes back with "Nothing To Do"
----------------------------------------Both phones operate on Android 2.3.6, same as my 2 Samsungs. Both are set to only run WCG, no other projects. Next? ![]()

Hello acpartsman,
I have been looking at the specs for the Huawei Ascend Y. I finally noticed that it had no internal flash memory. Both FAHV and SN2S require 50 MB of disk (local FLASH). We intend to rewrite the code to use external FLASH someday, but I have no idea what difficulties are involved. Lawrence |

Thanks for the info. Maybe someday soon I'll be able to crunch with these 2 phones.

Hello robintel,
I found a spec sheet after a little searching: Maximum Memory Card Size Supported 32 GB Built-in Memory 4 GB Operating System Version Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich It does not mention any internal flash memory, which our programs currently need to substitute for a hard disk. I suspect that is the problem. Can you find any mention of internal flash memory for your phone? Lawrence |
