Project update 2013 08 15

This is a brief update about the Say No To Schistosoma Project on World Community Grid. The researchers have constructed a new web site look which can be seen here: http://www.schistosomaonline.com.br. They have added 19 new protein targets to the project and these are listed here: http://www.mestradoti.com.br/schistosoma/targets . Over 4 million additional candidate compounds are being added to the project and we should start running the screenings for these on the grid soon after the data is prepared. The researchers have one paper submitted to a journal for review and have written another paper which should be submitted soon. We will post news items about these papers when they are published. The researchers have done some preliminary laboratory testing of the best candidate compounds. Before human testing of the best candidate compounds can proceed, the Brazilian Research Ethics Committee must approve this testing request. The approval process is expected to take 6 to 8 months. The researchers thank all of the generous volunteers who make this project possible.

Re: Project update 2013 08 15

Maybe this update could be emailed to all members?
If I read this right, the scientists are ready for human testing, needing only the authorization from the Brazilian Research Ethics Committee.

This is one of those things that could get members no longer contributing back.
