Please can you add to profile settings - project specific setting section option to choose between FAAH and FAHV units? On my PC faah runs 4 WUs per 2hr, but on my laptop it runs one WU per 6 hours. Since there are FAHV which runs 4WUs/25min on my PC and 1WU/90min on my laptop it will be very useful improvement, because I have PC on 24/7 for WCG crunching but laptop is on daily about 3 hours. Thanks.

It was in one of the threads about VINA tasks failing on certain machines and it was suggested that splitting would allow those who cannot run VINA could select Docking....

Although I can understand separating FAAH and FAHV into two separate crunchable entities because some processors have difficulties to crunch VINA, I don't think it would be a good idea to do it just because VINA is faster to crunch than Autodock. They are both WUs for the FAAH project and both have to be crunched.

my laptop crunches 1WU per cca 3 days because it is not still turned on as my PC and everytime I turn on laptop the %s of work done from day before is lower about 5% - it roll back to some checkpoint I think.. so it will be effective to crunch 2 WUs completely per day on laptop :) On PC I don't care, it is still turned on and it is 3570k OC to 4,2GHz so it crunches everything :)

It's good to 'read' past discussion on any matter [The forums have 8.5 years history]. In this case the long term objective [I will not link], is to have job sizes so that devices of varying power can crunch 2-3 units a day, which particular for parttime crunchers is more efficient. When... my crystal ball is at least as good as yours. As with anything WCG, glacial speed projection.
Regarding what csjlman wrote, that was the 'unsaid' bit... absolutely, both need completing, but since the AD part [experiment 41] is done by mid month, another, as Scribe said, moot point FTTB. Nothing to [de]select from. These shorts will remain per knreed until the hand is forced... remember our tested daily results is about 1.75-2 million. Then it's size up or implement accelerate the size to power job assigning... it's all in alpha testing. |
