I use my computer for not the most time consuming or CPU devouring things. Never felt a need AND i spend a lot of time away and basically always have it on. So i thought "hey, if I'm going to e running world community grid, why don't i run it faster?" So, how do i do that? some of these things take like 15 hours, my computer turns that into like 10 sometimes but, in general, i would like to half if not more the estimated time. Hopefully not to the point where it destroys my computer but, how do i do more work faster?

Overclock your PC.........which 'could' also destroy it if you are not careful.......other than that, do nothing as it is running as fast as possible when you do not use it! (and make sure your screensaver is turned to NONE

Certain projects( FAAH VINA, SN2S and DSFL) run a lot faster in Linux 64 bits so if you have a 64 bit CPU it might be worth looking into.
----------------------------------------As for overclocking, beware of the temperatures. Mine has been with 700 MHZ overclock for nearly 1.5 years with no problems. Alo make sure your settings are configured to use the CPU at 100%. ![]() - AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W - AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W - AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

Hello warownslife,
Falconet gave you the best advice. Click on My Grid - Device Manager - (Selected Profile) and see what instructions you have given BOINC. If you have set your CPU usage to less than 100%, you need to change it. Start out by changing your Selected Profile to Home rather than default and choose Maximum Output, set it to be your default, then SAVE. Look over the values and if you want to change any, select Custom Profile, make your desired changes, then SAVE. Lawrence |
