Re: Sinners & Saints

Mmmm, Unfortunately, I've lost one of my hosting locations, while I'm swapping machines around to keep the best of them active, there will be some drop...

I'm looking for another location, so may increase again...

If you're after co-lo space, this is one of the companies I found when I was originally spec'ing a rackmounted monster-build:

UK Servers

They're mainly based in a secure data-centre in Coventry, but do have shared space in various DCs in London, I believe, if that's a more suitable location. Their unmetered 4U offering (the Colo 200 package on that page) assumes that it's a single-motherboard server, but didn't say anything about limiting the number of CPUs on that motherboard, from a quick email-exchange with them sometime during last year.

Re: Pi non-starter

I reckon my Pi 2 is using less than 5W (I'll check tonight). That's less than £8/year with current electricity prices. A Pi plus a decent-sized SD card should be more than enough to run mail and web, I reckon?

I can confirm that, when running 4 FiND@Home units, my Pi 2 is using 3.2W as measured with an energy monitor with a 1A USB charger in it. I reckon that's about 640mA. Slightly more than a standard USB2 socket (500mA), but well within the 900mA of a USB3 socket.

Shame there's no WCG work.

Thanks Thargor, I'll have a look at them...

Re: Sinners & Saints

@Thargor - I just had a look at their web site. It wouldn't work for me as my two 2U servers have 4 MB's and 8 CPU's each...

Even their 300 bundle only specifies 2 servers, but from the contact you've had and the assumption of the one MB per server they would not like mine...

Good options though, just not for my machines!

If you want more details of my 'New Toy' search in the forum

Re: Gandalf

@TMC
That's sad news but at least he had friends for those last few days. As someone else who is "under the paw", they do work their way into your heart. It a shame that there are many out there that deserve a comfy home.
