I didn't comment on your suggestion in Retention of 'Long-Term' Crunchers and doing so now would attract more nay sayers who criticise and offer no constructive ideas. Some points for you to consider:

• The existing Points system is flawed as you know. Introducing a multiplier will compound the problem.
  
• The amendment as proposed would be open to abuse/manipulation. Just 4 days crunching spaced out in 1 year would be enough to qualify as "continuous crunching".
  
• Amending the Points system would make comparison of WCG with other projects, via external stat sites, virtually worthless.
  

The idea of "Continuous crunching" might be worth exploring but with a different definition. If a user has validated a result every day for a year might that not be something worth recognising? (In practice maybe 360 out of 365 to allow for system downtime etc)

Well, you really couldn't make it up (part 3)...

It seems my new server from WSI has been online since Tuesday, but the welcome-email they sent me wasn't received, no idea where they sent it (have asked them to check - and just in case, I've changed all the passwords they sent me and locked the server down in my usual way anyway).

Anyway, it has 24 MCM tasks downloaded and working away nicely, so will see how it goes after a few days of settling down... will post more once it's had a few days to settle.
