@ Apis Tintinnambulator
----------------------------------------Several points: Thanks for the hint about RSS feeds. I used Googke reader awhile back but got out of the habit. I'll look at Mozilla Thunderbird ![]() 6.10.58 is still the WCG approved release - it passed a security audit to satisfy the requirements of banks and the like. 7.0.64 is generally acknowledged, in this forum, to be stable when running WCG on personal devices. 7.2.42 is the latest BOINC Recommended version (released Feb 28) We sorely miss the input of SekeRob and his indepth knowledge of BOINC to assess new releases and I've held back upgrading (from 7.2.33) until I see some positive reports in the forum. A new WCG approved version may be in the pipeline for sometime in 2014. A breakdown of results by client verson (CEP2 only) was posted by knreed in May 2013 which illustrates the extent of the problem in moving to a common BOINC version! The news about smaller molecule CEP2 WUs arriving is most welcome. The original post by uplinger is here His follow-up explains the decrease in efficiency I've seen with Elapsed Time substantially exceeding CPU Time. |

Scribe has managed to substantially increase the number of people viewing the UK Team thread by referencing one of my earlier posts.

I recollect reading, but cannot quickly find, a post that said that CEP2 WUs would grow in size for a while and then shrink back to shorter ones. I just noticed that one of my machines has a picked up a WU that is for a C15 molecule, whereas the previous one was for C50. So it looks like the shorter ones are here. I did receive late last week a couple of small units, I think around an hour but the ones I've had since are maxing out at the 18hour limit. |

TMC's last uploaded result was 04-03-14 03:31:54. Whilst we may see some benefit from his P/V gaol emptying essentially we're down ~25 - 30 RTd daily.

Is anyone able to step up to the plate? ![]() As soon as I've got round to testing the three disks I pulled out of my old file-server, and repairing them (if possible) or arranging for an RMA, I'll be looking at building a small-ish machine to take over from my gaming PC's crunching. Probably looking at a desktop-version 8-core AMD, just to see how AMD CPUs cope compared to Intel-based ones. Once that's been run-in and tested, I can then make a final decision on what to do about the monster-server I've mentioned a few times in the past, as I'm still undecided between Intel & AMD, to be honest. Watch this space - although based on how long I've talked about that server, so far, it likely won't be a quick-moving plan! ![]() ![]() |
