The UK Team has advanced to #60 in the RunTime rankings passing RedRaider Technology
---------------------------------------- Two more places can be gained towards the end of March: Targets HardOCP have been stringing together a good run of output figures and are now a medium term threat in RunTime and Points rankings but not, as yet, in the Results rankings where the UK team has out performed them by 76 (7days) and 279 (28days)results. Answering a global stats question in another thread I calculated that WCG will pass 1,000,000,000,000 Points spmetime around 12-May-14.
----------------------------------------It's going to cause confusion because thats 1 billion in UK/European usage and 1 trillion in US usage. So I googled to find out which is correct and found that in 1974 Harold Wilson announced that henceforth "billion" would mean 10 to the power of 9 and not 10 to the power of 12 in official British reports and statistics which did nothing to clear up the confusion! Names for Large Numbers Somethingelse to blame Harold for, as well as the value of the pound in my pocket!Admin please note Lack of superscript/subscript is another deficiency of the forum software evident when trying to write 10 to the power of 12! ![]() |

Congrats on Emerald MCM, jonnieb-uk!
----------------------------------------![]() And, when you don't have access to superscript-fonts, I believe the standard way of writing powers would be 10^12. And, as a mathematician, I just ignore what politicians and economists try to tell me, as a billion will always be 1,000,000,000,000! ![]() ![]() |

It's been about 2 months since my last badge but this time I also got a BOINC notice confirming the new badge and that's new! I think it's a positive move by WCG to improve the recognition of volunteers' efforts. Now all(?) we need is for the Badge program itself to to be extended to recognise contributions beyond 5 years! ![]() |
