Hi guys. I see WCG has its own settings/profiles you can set the max CPU time etc, though I see BOINC also has these preferences. Does one take precedence over the other? How does it work exactly? Boinc is WCG......WCG is Boinc..........................last one takes precedence Where is your nice new signature? ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Feb 16, 2014 6:55:52 AM] |

The BOINC client inherits whatever is on WCG, as far as I can see (each time it communicates with the server anyway). - Signature added |

Clockwork it's worth noting that each time you change something in a Profile or in BOINC preferences you should click Advanced>> Read config. files/Read Local Prefs. (in BOINC advanced view) to force BOINC to immediately update for the change(s).
----------------------------------------One problem that recurs (when crunching CEP2) is an error message "insufficient bandwidth". This is not strictly true but is caused by the default Profile setting for CEP". Go to whatever Profile you are using ( click "Settings" top right of this page) and towards the bottom: Project Specific Settings Change Number of workunits per host for The Clean Energy Project - Phase 2 xx Choosing anything other than 1 will eliminate the supposed bandwidth problem. "1" is an old default setting. If only wanting to process 1 CEP2 at the time (because of the memory required) upgrade to BOINC 7.0.64/65 (depends on it being Windows or Mac/Linux). This allows use of an app_config file [read forums topic], for each science how many are allowed to compute concurrent With regard to BOINC Mgr vers. If you're using the WCG "approved" version 6.10.58 I'd reccommend upgrading. 7.0.64/65 is regarded as stable. Later versions have had problems though I (& Scribe) run 7.2.33 without problem. Any issues put them in post and someone will pitch in with advice. ![]() |
