Re: Random Factoid

Random Factoid #10

Only Apis Tintinnambulator of the active UK Team members has a full set of 23 Badges! biggrin

CONNIE, crooks_uk, & Scribe are tied on 21 .

All three are missing AfricanClimate@Home plus crooks_uk is missing Human Proteome Folding and Scribe Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy

CONNIE though can still gain a badge for Mapping Cancer Markers at which point second place will be undisputed! wink

An Olympic-style Medal (Badge) table will follow shortly. wink

Unfortunately I had a break from WCG for a while and when I returned I was only using the old UD software in my then place of work. When UD stopped running, I no longer had access to these machines. These were the old days when Pentium 3 and 4 CPUs were the norm!

I was very disappointed with the AfricanClimate@Home Project as I had a few machines running when this project was available but never received a single work unit.

I wish I had the full badge set. sad

Re: Random Factoid

PS - just noticed that I am getting very close to the 300,000 results milestone!

My results have taken a big hit of late as much of my fleet defaulted to the long running CEP-P2 in the absence of MCM work units.

I remember AC@H as a strange project. I checked my details and see I only had:

AfricanClimate@Home 2,166 3 0:001:17:49:10

I seem to remember that the bronze badge was awarded for only 1 day's work.

So I only just scraped in on a very meagre effort!

Re: Random Factoid

Although also haven't done particularly well for badges (mainly as computers have died at crucial times or have been more interested in specific projects), my own stats for AfricanClimate@Home weren't too bad and amount to vast bulk of the teams stats for that project.

AfricanClimate@Home 36,874; 52; 0:014:05:35:59 biggrin

In case another project of this sort comes around, the easiest way to get the badges (as I always have done) is to (1) get enough units from another project so to continue crunching irrespective of getting new work; (2) change project preferences to only accept units from that project (3) Increase buffer to try to get more work. (4) Ensure requests for new work are sufficiently frequent so that will get the tasks (On Windows run scheduler (cron for unix) to run a batch file which I have put in C:\Program Files\BOINC containing the following:

cd "C:\Program Files\BOINC"
boinccmd --project http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org update

Currently only schedule this task just before WCG updates, but have in past run it hourly
)....

Re: Random Factoid

@ Ian_UK

Using a batch file in Win Scheduler sounds a good idea. I think its worth my time trying to adapt to run updates of my key spreadheets. wink

I've also found it useful to add the following instructions to my app_config file:

<report_results_immediately>1</report
This, more often than not, triggers a work fetch (depending on cache settings).

<max_concurrent>1</max_concurrent>

to ensure I only crunch one CEP2 WU at a time.

Re: MCM

Welcome to ShaneTucker. Just need to install BOINC and get crunching! Any questions then fire away.

Good to see "Project 1900" back up and running, can now start to advance from my current 4days RT. Just got my first 4 of the new MCM batch downloaded.

In Other News

Yesterday (Monday) was a red letter day with 70 team members crunching! Let's hope that follows through in to the daily stats. smile
