Re: Good while it lasted

That is certainly not normal. My last new tasks sent by the server were:
at 2023-02-23T06:49:23 - OPNG
at 2023-02-23T01:14:15 - MCM1
at 2023-02-22T21:40:19 - OPN1

UPDATE: Just received some new OPNG-tasks, two minutes after I wrote the above. smile
Apart from that, the well is pretty dry.

Yeah, it's been unreliable for months but tasks usually appear after a few attempts. They do appear to have near enough run dry this morning though.

It's best if you have a decent bunch of tasks buffered up, I reckon.

Re: Good while it lasted

Morning everyone,

Looks like the website is back up and running but completed tasks are not uploading and no new work as yet.

Very disappointed with the latest outage to say the least!

Yes it's very poor, really. A single hardware failure should not take a system out for this length of time, particularly not one that's got hundreds of thousands of daily users. It looks like WGC is running on a shoe string and is not getting the love it deserves.

Re: Good while it lasted

The lack of official communication is very discouraging.

The site and these forums are "Up" but there's no official word of what's happening.....

Uploads still seem to fail and no new work is being downloaded.....

Agreed. Since it moved from IBM it has been rather poor. Was hoping that things were getting closer to acceptable performance but we have now taken a very big step backwards! Considering adding projects outside of WCG to cover the shortage of work units and system outages that have started to become the norm here.

Re: Good while it lasted

All:

Please tell everyone to review this link in the forums:

https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewpostinthread?post=682966

WCG needs an infusion of greenery, for St. Patrick's day, to help stop these constant problems.

Please donate whatever you can, $5 or $10 :::: if 1,000 crunchers can each donate at least $5, many of these problems get resolved PERMANENTLY.

Thanks for anything you can do.

Re: Good while it lasted

Still unable to upload completed work and download new work. Cant' believe how long tis outage has lasted. Think it is time to pass the project over onto safer hands as Krembil appears to be totally out of their depth.

It's ridiculous. I've given up, this time permanently I think. I gave up before, and then came back, because after 14 years it's hard to let go. I'm going to switch to Charity Engine which I've been toying with for years, and maybe win a prize whilst also doing (some) good. I'll keep my stats site running whilst there's some interest, for what it's worth, given that it seems to be a lot more robust than WCG itself and takes no effort. I don't blame the people at Krembil as such, other than for extremely poor communications.
