My i7-6700 is getting a bit "long in the tooth". Good grief, Dave, you turn your kit over fast. I have an i7-6700HQ @ 2.60GHz in my lappie and I think it's a fantastic bit of kit. BTW, I see the updates to the team web site are having to be run at odd times to cope with the issue that the main site is having. I just wanted to say thank-you for keeping on top of it. |

Hi Team,
----------------------------------------Installed the Alphacool, with minor difficulties, overclocked each core by 400mhz and the cpu is running nicely at 52C, fixed an issue with my memory not running full speed, and my work unit times have decreased by an appropriate amount. Nothing earth shattering but it will help. I'll increase the overclock once everything has bedded in for a while. ![]() |

I must have a rare kind of threadripper. Cores are running at 3.9ghz and vcore is 1.26v, I have gone as high as 4.2ghz with vcore at 1.32v. From what I've read, most need more voltage than mine. It is very stable and the increase in performance is worth the tiny extra power it uses at 3.9ghz. Any higher and the power usage rises significantly.

My entire computer at 3.9ghz uses about 390w per hour which at standard rate is 6.88 pence. This includes my 7 HD's.
----------------------------------------Of course it costs nothing on a sunny day. The 4.2ghz figure is 540w, which is quite high, and the cpu temps float around 78c. I'm not comfortable with those figures. I'll overclock to 4ghz and keep it there as it seems to be the best performance with good temps and power usage. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Darkmatter.NI at May 22, 2019 10:18:00 PM] |

I reckon (for me without solar) that would work out at ~£500 per year, which is too much (for me). There are more tax efficient ways to donate to worthy causes, so I think I will stick to crunching one work unit on my Synology NAS, one on an Azure VM, 6 on an old phone, and occasionally 4 on my desktop. The good ol' days, when I had 8 threads running on my work desktop, are sadly long gone, and I'm slipping back down the rankings. Every little helps though.

Hi again guys, I´m still in Blighty but for only a few days more. My new boiler has been installed and my flat will soon be on the ´Modern Auction´Market. I head back to Bolivia on 30th May. Of course now that I have central heating it is too warm to use it. Ah well. Let´s hope the flat cells so I can afford to pay for the central heating.

BTW, my stats site is offline, due to the fact that there was an OpenReach/BT fault this morning for a couple of hours, and I am having a new carpet laid and hence I decided (since it wasn't working anyway) to unplug the router. Normal service should be resumed this evening.

Snap! Dave, we've just had the upstairs carpetted on Thursday, one room left to go on Monday. Downstairs we've ripped up all the old carpet, vinyl tiles and ceramic ones from the kitchen, next week we'll begin the flooring there. All the upheaval has meant cutting down to two or just one boxes running WCG although I suspect it'll all get switched off this weekend if it gets anywhere near 28deg as promised!
----------------------------------------Congratulations to scol5913 and Rotasella Exactoris on their D20 and D10 MCM's! Enjoy the weather all this weekend. ![]()

I just replied on this thread agreeing that the Gremlins are amok in the stats. In doing so I also realised that I have just made my half-century for the team. Trebles all round!
