It seems that we are left with only one project. Over 97% of the results yesterday came from the fight aids at home project. In just the last two weeks this project has been increased by about 50%. I have a laptop that was given to me and it is very poor compared to a new desktop. Yet it is being asked to do a clean energy work unit. If there was a fa@h unit available, I would assume that it would be the logical unit to send to this laptop so there must not be enough of them to keep all the computers working. I used to be a member of united devices and when they ran out of work, they would send the same work unit to over 6 computers and when that was not enough the would send the same work unit more than once to a computer. WCG started out using ud software and I sure hope they do not use their tactics to keep its volunteer's computers busy. I sure hope that WCG gets another big project very soon.

I am now 100% CEP, as I believe it has the potential for a profound impact on humanity. However it does require some heavy specs which is why it is a special opt in project. For those who cannot participate, FAAH has more than enough work left to do, and no, I highly doubt IBM would ever do what UD did.

Hello RicktheBrick,
SNIP I have a laptop that was given to me and it is very poor compared to a new desktop. CEP2 is sent to any machine that is listed to run it. There is no selection of 'best' computer. Our staff are too busy to make up phony work units. If we run low, the staff are busy trying to load more units on the server and we have to wait till they are done.Another project? Maybe September, maybe not. We are busy on Android problems, x86 Android, and all the day to day work that can keep pushing back the arrival dates for new projects. The staff are working hard, but the future is often a surprise when it arrives. Lawrence |

As far as running CEP2 WUs, the real issue isn't one of how fast your computer is, but can it stay up long enough to crunch all the way through in one session. If you take your computers up and down more than once per day, you will find running CEP2 WUs to be an issue on any such computer since CEP2 WUs have a well known very long step in the middle of it that doesn't checkpoint in the middle if you take your computer down. So if your little laptop is up 12-24 hrs + at a time, then you may find you can take CEP2 WUs. I happen run 9 hour sessions on my laptop during M-F, and CEP2 WUs generally take 10-13 hours on my laptop, so I don't run them during the week. But I have my laptop up 12+ hrs on the weekends, so I occasionally run CEP2 WUs during those times when I know I can take a CEP2 WU and run it all the way to completion in one session.
Otherwise I would suggest just crunching the big new batch of FAAH WUs just recently tossed into the mix. The new FAAH Vina WUs are much smaller and can probably be a nice fit for your older laptop to run on. Now FAAH still has older WUs which run much longer, but if you have to shut down after short session runs with your laptop, both FAAH WUs checkpoint nicely and can start up pretty close to where they last were with you come up again. It looks like we still have to wait till close to fall before new projects show up (though I see SekeRob just took out some old projects from his charts, so maybe that is an heads up that new stuff is coming fairly soon). ![]() |

I dont if it is related but FAAH need us as the search of a vaccine is hard due to the own nature and capacity of adaptation of HIV
