I have 5 crunching rigs total and all where running the Wcg 6. version of the Boinc client. I started having the re-loop issues with the FAAH vina wu's so I decided the try the newest version of agent software from the Boinc site. Install went fine and all three where happy crunching. Oh this was 3 days ago. The next day I check my stats and noticed 1 of my rigs totals where low. When I got home I noticed that the Boinc client wasn't running. Rig was running fine. I though maybe I shut it down the previous night and did remember. I restarted it and checked the other rigs and all is good. The next day (which was yesterday) I checked on my stats as usual from work and noticed now 3 of the rigs had very low numbers. Got home and found the same thing, Boinc client closed but now on three of them. It is as if someone is just simply closing the agent down. This is impossible by the way unless I do it. I searched for some answer and didn't come up with one. So I re-installed the Version 6 from Wcg site back onto the machines last night and they seem fine today. Numbers are still a little low, but I figured that is from where they where down for a good part of yesterday and last night.
Has anyone had this happen or know of a reason for it? Like I said previous, the 3 rigs in question have been crunching happy along for sometime now and hit a hiccup with the 7.03 vina wu's. They have crunched on every other project without issue. Temp are really great of them and it isn't a hardware stability issue. Two of the rigs are running win 7 and the other is running Win Vista. |

In the data_directory of BOINC there are various log files named STD???DAE.txt or STD???GUI.txt where the ??? is for instance OUT or ERR. The STDERRDAE.TXT would be the file logging the crashes and the STDOUTDAE.TXT logging when it happened with some description. If there was a lot of logging the previous file is backed up to a *.old file. Have a look in there and post copy of the suspect sections.
Berkeley 'recommended' is I think 7.0.64/65 for Windows & Linux/Mac respectively. WCG is by the looks skipping 7.0 opposed to initial plans and going for 7.2.7 or up, where 7.2.7 i the last Android release I'm aware of. That said, can't remember seeing but the rarest of boinc.exe crash reports for 7.0.31 and up. Running W7 and Linux. |

The version I had running that was giving me the exiting stuff was 7.0.64. I uninstalled it from the 3 rigs last night and re-installed the WCG version which I think is 6.10.58.
Also I noticed the one rig that was having trouble longer seems to be having most of it's results for the day thrown in the pending verification. Which I figure is the do not trust me pile. |

Here you wrote just before 7.0.42 https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewpostinthread?post=427994 but that's of no further interest to me. What we like to see is those log pieces I wrote about in first reply. Till then there's nothing material to investigate.

I wrote the wrong version number in that thread but I just edited it to the right version. I have also been talking with a friend who said they have been running the .42 I believe version without issue. I have been up late trying to figure this stuff out so my mind isn't totally clear. But in my defense I did say the newest version from Boinc's site which is the .64 I believe. Also I uninstalled the newest version and went back to the 6. version from Wcg's site. SO I have no log to show. After un-installing I deleted the Boinc folder from program data and program file. I didn't want a conflict as the uninstaller seems to leave stuff behind and I have had conflicts before.
----------------------------------------If you would like I can re-install it to one of my rigs and try to replicate the issue and get the logs. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jul 27, 2013 2:38:33 AM] |
