WCG emails are always welcome and it's good to see them being used to communicate important news to members. The latest example being Now your Android smartphone or tablet can help advance humanitarian research!
----------------------------------------Two suggestions: 1. Careful thought needs to be given to the composition of the "Subject" line in the email. In the latest one it was "World Community Grid: Now on Android!". In a busy (OutLook) inbox this was displayed as "World Community Grid: Now...". Thus the impact of "Android" was lost. Putting "World Community Grid" in the subject line in full wastes important space and duplicates information already contained in the "Sender" details. Abbreviate to "WCG: Now on Android" is much more effective. 2. On behalf of an active team, which seeks to nurture its' members to maximise their crunching for WCG, we would very much appreciate a "My Team" box with a Go to My Team statistics link being added to the standard WCG email format. |

jonnieb-uk,
Thank you for these suggestions...we will take them in to account when we send out the next email (for the Subject comment) and when we redesign the email template (for the Team stats comment). Thanks! ErikaT |

Regarding the link to the user's team stats page, if the user doesn't belong to a team, use a link to the find a team page perhaps? I would suspect, and hope, that a user who joins a team would be more likely to remain an active cruncher!
----------------------------------------A bit more elaborate change, for users who belong to a team, would be to include a link to their team's current thread in the Teams forum. I would think that that would require a change to the team info page where the team captain would be responsible for including a link to the team's current thread in the Teams forum (like the link to any team home page). Perhaps that link should only be included in the emails if the thread has had a post in say the last 90 days? |
