John I don’t know but you are beating me in points per hour. You get 28.59 And I only get 28.57 ![]() Wow! A huge margin! ![]() |

The pc that gets the lowest pph has a 1 gig Athlon, 384 megs of PC133 SDRAM and 10 gigs of HD space allocated. The next oldest machine has a 1.1 gig Duron, 640 megs of PC133 SDRAM and 10 gigs HD space allocated. All of the others range from 2.1 gig to 3.0 gig CPU's, DDR RAM from 512 to 1024 Mhz and all have 10 gigs of allocated HD space.
I cited Basogard as an example earlier because he has 3 fewer pc's, 2-1/2 days less cpu time, 329 fewer results, yet he has 14,602 points more than I do. It just doesn't make much sense to me. |

Morning All
---------------------------------------- Points per hour (based on latest stats): 22.96. But as I've previously mentioned, I'm running this on 10 machines, of which 7 are under 1Ghz. I've upgraded 4 of them to their maximum RAM which is only 512Mb which ups the points a bit. Still, it gets the job done! got 2 more P3-1Ghz machines ariving this week with 256Mb... gonna invest in some more RAM for them too. Fortunately, 133Mhz SDRAM is going for a song on eBay... supply outstripping demand for once which is nice! |

Mornin' Matt.
Wasn't really complaining but it's just an anomaly that bugs me. I've always felt that points meant nothing anyway and tried for as many results as possible since that's what we're here for. Others, however, including DC Stats, place emphasis only on points. If I felt the same way about points, I'd be really po'd about how they're handed out. Just had my little morning rant. The rest of the day can get on normally now. ![]() |

Fair enough John. I keep costing up getting a new high end machine just for crunching, but the amount I would have to spend makes me realise it's not worth it. I have a preference for just getting hold of cheap refurbs for crunching, either borrow them from work or getting them cheap of eBay or something.
----------------------------------------I'm happy with points being my main stat as it's a good mid-point between my high CPU rank and my low Results rank. If I had one high end machine then I would not need 3-4 of my low end ones, my points and results would still be the same, but my CPU time and therefore points per hour would be a lot better. |
