Task exited with DLL initialization error [RESOLVED]

Hi folks,

Just installed Boinc 5.10.45 on a SBS 2011 system to make use of unused CPU cycles overnight. Checked in this morning to see how the first run went and I noticed the following in the event log:

This being our primary server I'm a bit reluctant to restart it if I can avoid it...any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Re: Task exited with DLL initialization error

I'd recommend -against- running CEP2 on a shared server, primary at that. This science is CPU/Memory/Disk IO intense, meaning you get into situations where the load is so high that even BOINC finds it cant talk to the science apps on a regular basis. When it can't it restarts the task, and if this too often [100 times], it will abort the task(s).

Regrettably, 5.10.45 does not have the pause option when non-BOINC system load is over X percent. I'm using this to exactly prevent the problem you see, even outright task crashing [heartbeat failure]. Rather prefer BOINC pausing a few minutes, then loosing task progress, or results altogether. That said, there's ways to get 6.2 or 6.10 on... somewhere posted on the forums... the problem being that v6 requires those special limited user rights accounts.

Re: Task exited with DLL initialization error

OK thanks, I'll setup a profile for the server and opt out of CEP2 then.

I did have a quick browse through the forums to check for installation issues on SBS 2011 and it seemed the easiest option was to go with 5.10.45 and upgrade at a later date - so I'm guessing for now will just have to put up with the messages and the occasional lost task/run time?
