Yes, but before we started cooking and frying and concocting chemicals the bulk of which we do not know the effect of on any and every living thing and polluting the environment in a grand way, it was almost rare. Today, cancer is much more common in the industrialized world, but since the oceans are now getting to a point where every fricking being has microplastic particles in it, found through sampling up to 700 meters deep the reach of pollution is omnipresent. We're ingesting it, even through our drinking water simply because present filter systems are not able to remove it all... but we have C4CW as horse to bet on.
